Jazz and Janis
(Ruby Pearl Sullivan) (Chinese Fire Dragon x Lily King) Sev. 6" fl. 28" sc. M 20 buds. Good to average rust resistance. My friend, Richard Taylor from Indianapolis, Indiana flies down to help hybridize in May and move the garden in August. He is a huge fan of Janis Joplin. When he first saw this extremely bright orange red, he immediately stopped and named it Jazz and Janis. Like Janis, it certainly is bright and flamboyant. The color is distinctly different from other reds, being a bright tomato orange red. The flower edges can have tightly crimped ruffles to soft gentle ruffling. The petal edges also carry a wire gold edge. Richard has been growing Jazz and Janis in Indiana, so it is cold hardy. Like Janis, these flowers will definitely catch your attention.
